HEIFER PROJECT: We're amost Half Way There!

Our Heifer Project at St. Paul was officially kicked-off on August 9, the same day we celebrated the 30th anniversary of Pastor Sherer's ordination.

As of September 8, almost $2,300 has been given toward our goal of $5,000. What's more, this includes monetary designations for TWO Heifers. Wow!

With Rally Day's celebration this Sunday (September 13) we will continue our efforts to "Fill an Ark" with various activities and fund-raising ideas that will involve our Sunday School children and their famlies.

A favorite among our younger givers, so far, is a flock of chicks. Ducks, geese and even rabbits are available too.

REMEMBE
R, our goal is to "Fill an Ark" with at least $5,000 by Thanksgiving. What a neat way to help people in another part of the world enjoy a better live through our gifts of sustainable agriculture!

A blessed Thank You to all who have given so far.

Join in our HEIFER PROJECT: Let's Fill an Ark!

Wednesday, August 12 marks the 30th anniversary of the ordination of Pastor Sherer. Following Jan's suggestion, the Sherers have requested that our focus on this day be a mission project in conjunction with Heifer International - a world wide organization which helps individuals and families improve their lives through sustainable agriculture.

The kick-off for this "Heifer Project" will be on Sunday, August 9. Assistant to the Bishop, Rev. Danette Johns, will be our guest preacher for the day under the theme "Feed My Sheep" (John 21:15-17). Following the worship service all will gather outside (weather permitting) or in the Fellowship Hall for a picnic meal, games and good old fashioned fellowship. The meat will be provided, so all are asked to bring pot-luck desert or salad. Questions can be directed to either Sandy Hokinson (469-3004) or Mary Collmann (469-2762).

One of the Heifer Projects that is popular among congregations is the "Fill the Ark" campaign which requires a fund-raising effort of $5000 and, when completed, will provide animals and other resources for 30 families. Our goal is to have raised enough money to "Fill the Ark" by Thanksgiving 2009.
